•Social and Rehabilation Services (SRS)
It is the mission of the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to promote the social, emotional, and physical well being and safety of Vermont's children and families.

This is done through the provision of protective, developmental, therapeutic, probation, and support services for children and families in partnership with schools, businesses, community leaders, service providers, families, and youth statewide.

You do not need to prove that a child has been abused. An intake worker will talk with you about your observations. If there is enough information to indicate that the child may have been abused or neglected as defined in statute, the referral will be accepted as a report. If you are unsure whether a situation constitutes a report, call and consult an intake worker.

After your initial call, you will be asked to complete a brief one-page report. Your identity can be kept confidential, unless court action is necessary to protect the child. However, your open participation in the process can provide the most benefit to the child and parent. If there is a court hearing, and your identity must be disclosed, Vermont law provides you with civil or criminal immunity when your report has been made in good faith.

Social and Rehabilitaion Services (SRS)
